An independent look at Local Viking: what it does, what it costs, what users actually rate it, and how it compares with GMBAudit.

Pricing checked August 2026 against the vendor’s own page where it publishes one.

Quick verdict

Strong grid and posting. Credit capped, no trial, brand unsettled.

Two products in one dashboard that agencies genuinely use together: a geo grid scanner with scheduled scans, historical archives and a timelapse replay, and bulk posting with spintax so the same post is not published word for word across every listing. Buy it if grid tracking and Google Business Profile posting are the whole job. The awkward part is not the product. The pricing page now redirects to Local Optics, and the vendor advertises no trial, so you commit before you have seen it.

What is Local Viking?

Local Viking is a Google Business Profile management and geo grid tracking tool, priced by how many listings you manage.

The pitch is combination rather than depth. You get grid scanning and profile posting in one place at a price below buying them separately.

It is narrower than a full local SEO platform. Reviews, listings distribution and portfolio reporting are a different scope.

Our rating: 4.0 out of 5

Grid tracking plus posting in one place, with an embeddable grid nobody else offers. No confirmed platform ratings to corroborate it.

Our own assessment, not an average of user reviews. Scored on price transparency, minimums, how much of the job one purchase covers, and how easily you can leave.

Local Viking features

Every feature below, and what it actually does rather than what the marketing calls it.

GeoGrid tracking

GeoGrid is the feature Local Viking is known for. It samples your map position across a grid of coordinates and plots each point, giving you the shape of your visibility rather than a single number.

The grid is configurable in size and spacing, which matters more than it sounds. A tight grid around a shopfront and a wide grid across a service area answer different questions, and using the wrong one produces a confident answer to a question you did not ask.

Read the shape rather than the average. Even fading outward is proximity behaving normally. A hard edge means your profile stops carrying you at a particular distance. A gap in one direction usually means a competitor rather than geography.

Best for: Anyone who needs to see coverage rather than a position

GBP post scheduling

Posts written in advance and published to Google Business Profile on a schedule, across multiple locations from one place.

Combining grid tracking with posting is the reason people pick this over a pure tracker. You can see the measurement and act on it without moving between two subscriptions.

Best for: Businesses that want measurement and posting in one place

Keyword tracking

Position tracked for a set of keywords rather than one, so you can see which terms carry you and which you are absent for.

Three to five keywords that actually produce enquiries is the right number. Twenty produces a report nobody opens, which is the same as tracking none at all.

Best for: Understanding the spread across terms, not just one headline phrase

Multiple accounts and user management

Several Google accounts and profiles managed from one login, with users who can be given access to particular locations.

This is the feature that separates a tool built for agencies from one built for an owner. If you manage profiles you do not own, account separation stops being a nicety.

Best for: Agencies and anyone managing profiles across several Google accounts

White label reporting and the GeoGrid widget

Reports carrying your branding rather than the platform’s, plus a widget that embeds a grid on your own site.

The embeddable grid is genuinely unusual. Used well it is proof on your own website that you measure what you sell, which is a stronger sales asset than a screenshot in a PDF.

Best for: Agencies who want the measurement visible on their own site

Local Viking pros and cons

Pros
  • GeoGrid does more than draw a heatmap. Scans run on a schedule, keep history, and replay as a timelapse across a campaign.
  • Bulk posting is built for scale, with recurring posts, automatic daisy chaining, location variables and Standard, Offer and Event post types.
  • Attribute Sentry watches location data for unwanted third party edits and notifies you if a listing is suspended, which few rivals offer.
  • White label reporting and the embeddable GeoGrid widget start at the $99 Pro plan rather than being held back for the top tier.
Cons
  • The pricing page now redirects to Local Optics and the old app hostname no longer resolves, so confirm what you are actually buying.
  • Keyword and GeoGrid credits cap scanning separately from the listing cap, so heavy grid work can run out before your listings do.
  • Google Business Profile only. No citation building, no keyword research, no backlinks and no review request automation, so it replaces no suite.
  • The vendor advertises no trial and no free tier. The sign up button goes to checkout, so evaluating it costs a month.

We could not confirm a rating on any of the four platforms, which is itself worth knowing. It does not mean the tool is bad. It means there is less independent signal to weigh against the sales page rather than there is for the larger names, so lean harder on your own testing.

How Local Viking works

  1. Connect your listings

Plans are priced by how many profiles you manage, so this decides your tier.

  2. Set up grid scans

Choose keywords and grid settings within your credit allowance.

  3. Schedule posts

Posting is unlimited, which is the part that is genuinely good value.

  4. Watch the credits

Keyword and grid credits are what cap your usage, not the listing count.

  5. Report

White label reporting on the higher tiers if you are serving clients.

How GMBAudit compares

Local Viking advertises no trial and caps scanning with credits. We give you three days to look and meter nothing.

All 42 tools sit on the single plan, priced per location rather than per seat, and the numbers are on the pricing page rather than behind a call. The tools page lists every one.

Where we are not the answer
  • Newer than the names below, so there is less third party review history to read.
  • Not an enterprise procurement product. If you need a named account manager and a signed MSA, the enterprise vendors are built for that and we are not.

Local Viking FAQs

Why does Local Viking's pricing page send me to Local Optics?

The pricing URL now 301 redirects to app.localoptics.com and renders under the Local Optics brand. The former app.localviking.com hostname no longer resolves, and the marketing blog has not been updated since September 2025. We found no vendor statement explaining the change, so ask which product and billing entity you are signing up to before paying.

I manage 12 Google Business Profiles. Which Local Viking plan covers that?

Pro at $99 a month, because Starter at $59 stops at 10 listings and the next band is 20. You pay for eight slots you will not use. For comparison, Local SEO Tool charges per location: $16 at one, a flat $37 for two to seven and $5.33 each from eight upward.

What runs out first, my listing allowance or my GeoGrid credits?

Often the credits. Every plan pairs a listing cap with monthly keyword and GeoGrid allowances. Single includes 1,600 keyword and 7,500 GeoGrid credits, Enterprise 26,600 and 32,400. Scanning draws on that pool independently of how many locations you manage, so a heavy grid schedule can stop you before the listing cap binds.

Can I show live GeoGrid rankings on a client's website?

Yes. There is an embeddable GeoGrid widget that puts live rank data on your own site or a client's, and it arrives alongside white label reporting with scheduled delivery on the $99 Pro plan. The $39 Single and $59 Starter plans do not include either.

Will bulk posting publish identical text to all my listings?

No, if you use spintax. Bulk posting supports it, so each listing gets a different variation of the same message, and location specific variables substitute the right details per profile. You can push to many listings at once and set posts to recur, using Standard, Offer and Event types.

All 42 tools. One plan. No contract.

One location is $16 a month, two to seven is a flat $37, and from eight it is $5.33 each. Three day free trial.
