Guides

Guides for people doing the work.

Written for somebody with a profile open in another tab, not for somebody deciding whether local SEO is worth reading about.

What these cover

The unglamorous parts, mostly. Which fields matter and why, what an audit finds on a typical neglected profile, how to tell a real ranking change from ordinary movement.

Each one assumes you have a specific job in front of you. There is no introductory section explaining what Google Business Profile is, because if you are here you already know.

What they deliberately avoid

Tactics that work until they are noticed. Keyword stuffed business names, review gating, pages generated for towns you do not serve. All three appear in guides elsewhere and all three carry a cost that arrives later.

Guarantees, too. Where something is uncertain the guide says so, because the alternative is confident advice that turns out to have been a guess.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How often are guides updated?

When the thing they describe changes. Google adds and removes fields regularly, and a guide describing an interface that no longer exists is worse than none.

Are these for beginners?

They assume you have a profile and a reason to be here. They do not assume you have done this before.

Do the guides cover agency work?

Some do. Auditing forty profiles is a different problem from auditing one, and the guides that deal with scale say so.
