What this tool does

Citations are simply mentions of your business details on other sites. They matter less than they did a decade ago and are still worth having correct, mostly because the wrong ones actively cost you.

The useful output is not a count. It is the list of places where your details are wrong, because those are sending real people to an old address or a disconnected number.

How to use it

1

Enter your correct details first. Decide the right version before checking.

2

Run the check across the directories that matter in your sector.

3

Fix wrong listings before chasing missing ones.

4

Recheck later. Directories copy from each other, and errors return.

Worth knowing

Chasing a higher citation count is mostly wasted effort. Correcting the listings that contradict you is not, and it is usually a much shorter list.

Questions

How many citations do I need?

There is no number. Being correct on the ones people use beats being present on hundreds nobody visits.

Do citations still help rankings?

Less than they once did. Consistency still matters, and wrong details still cost you customers directly.

Should I buy a citation building service?

Be careful. Bulk submissions to low quality directories create work later and rarely produce anything worth having.
