What this tool does
Most profiles are not losing to a stronger competitor. They are losing because nobody ever finished filling them in. Categories, services, hours, attributes and photographs each give Google something to match a search against, and a profile missing half of them is competing with half a profile.
An audit produces the dull, useful list. What is blank, what disagrees with your own website, and what is filled in but wrong. Almost all of it costs nothing to fix except somebody sitting down and doing it.
How to use it
Enter the business name and town so the right profile is found.
Read the field by field breakdown rather than the headline score.
Start with blank fields and contradictions, which are the cheapest to close.
Audit again in a few weeks to confirm the changes were picked up.
Worth knowing
Audit before you spend money on anything else. It is routine to find a profile with no secondary categories and hours that disagree with the website. Both suppress visibility, and both take about ten minutes to correct.
Questions
Does a completeness score affect rankings?
Google publishes no such score. Completeness matters because every filled field is another thing a search can match, and because empty fields usually mean nobody is maintaining the profile.
How often should I audit?
Quarterly for one steady location. Monthly if you run several, because staff change hours and Google adds fields without announcing it.
What should I fix first?
Categories, then hours, then services. On a neglected profile those three account for most of the gap.
