An independent look at Moz Local: what it does, what it costs, what users actually rate it, and how it compares with GMBAudit.

Pricing checked August 2026 against the vendor’s own page where it publishes one.

Quick verdict

Good at listings. Not a local SEO platform.

Cheap, simple and good at exactly one thing. Moz Local handles listings and citation distribution and does not pretend otherwise. There is no rank tracking, no review workflow and no client reporting, so most people end up buying a second tool alongside it. If listings accuracy is genuinely your whole problem, it is hard to beat on price.

What is Moz Local?

Moz Local is a listings management product from Moz, focused on getting your business details correct and consistent across directories and data aggregators.

It is deliberately narrow. You give it your business information once, it distributes and monitors that information, and it tells you where things disagree.

The Moz name carries real weight in SEO, and for a lot of buyers that trust is part of what they are paying for.

Our rating: 4.1 out of 5

Transparent $20 to $40 pricing and mature listings handling. Narrow: no rank tracking, and review handling is monitoring rather than management.

Our own assessment, not an average of user reviews. Scored on price transparency, minimums, how much of the job one purchase covers, and how easily you can leave.

Moz Local features

Every feature below, and what it actually does rather than what the marketing calls it.

Listings distribution

You enter your business details once and Moz Local pushes them to its network of directories, apps and data aggregators. The point is that you stop submitting to sites one at a time, and corrections propagate from a single record.

One data aggregator is included on every plan. Additional aggregators cost four dollars a month each and are only available on the Preferred and Elite tiers in the US. That detail matters more than it looks, because aggregators are what feed the long tail of smaller directories.

Distribution is a continuous state rather than a one off submission. If a directory overwrites your hours, the sync corrects it again, which is the real argument for paying monthly rather than fixing listings by hand once.

Best for: A business that has moved, rebranded or changed phone number and needs it to stick

Duplicate detection

Duplicate listings happen for dull reasons: a move, a rename, or somebody claiming a profile that already existed. The effect is not dull. Reviews split across two entries, and neither looks as strong as the business really is.

Moz Local finds duplicates across its network and offers to close or merge them. This is genuinely one of the better implementations, because duplicates are tedious to find by hand and easy to miss entirely.

Best for: Portfolios that have grown through acquisition or been through a rebrand

Listing monitoring

Ongoing checks that your details still match across the network, with alerts when something drifts. It answers the question nobody thinks to ask, which is whether the listing you fixed eight months ago is still right.

It monitors rather than measures. It will tell you a directory disagrees with your record. It will not tell you whether any of it changed your visibility, which is a different tool.

Best for: Anyone who has fixed their listings once and wants them to stay fixed

Profile sync and review monitoring

Your Google and Facebook profiles stay in step with the same central record, and incoming reviews are surfaced in one place.

Review handling here is monitoring rather than management. You see what arrived. Requesting reviews, drafting replies and tracking response times are not what this product is for, and treating it as a reputation tool will disappoint.

Best for: Seeing reviews alongside listings without buying a second platform

Reporting

Reports on listing accuracy, presence and visibility across the network, with the profile completeness figures that come with them.

These are listings reports, not local SEO reports. There is no map position in them, so if a client asks where they rank, this product does not answer that question.

Best for: Showing a client that their data is now correct everywhere

Moz Local pros and cons

Pros
  • Cheap, starting at $20 per location per month.
  • Simple to set up and hard to get wrong.
  • Good duplicate detection, which is a real and under served problem.
  • A trusted name with a long history in SEO.
Cons
  • Listings only. No rank tracking, no review workflow, no client reporting.
  • Extra data aggregators cost more and are limited to the higher tiers.
  • You will usually need a second tool alongside it, so the real cost is higher than the sticker price.
  • No way to tell whether the listing work changed your position, because nothing measures position.

Reviewers like the simplicity, the price and the Moz name. The consistent criticism is scope. People buy it expecting a local SEO platform and find a listings tool.

How Moz Local works

  1. Enter your business details once

This becomes the record everything else is measured against, so get it exactly right.

  2. Let it find existing listings

Expect more than you think, especially after a move or a rebrand.

  3. Fix what disagrees

Correct the wrong ones before adding new ones. An old address is worse than a missing listing.

  4. Clear duplicates

Two listings for one business split everything attached to them.

  5. Monitor

Listings drift back, particularly the aggregated ones, so this is a periodic job.

How GMBAudit compares

Moz Local does listings and says so. We cover listings alongside rank tracking, reviews and reporting on the same plan.

Where we are not the answer
  • Newer than the names below, so there is less third party review history to read.
  • Not an enterprise procurement product. If you need a named account manager and a signed MSA, the enterprise vendors are built for that and we are not.

Final verdict

Cheap, simple and good at exactly one thing. Moz Local handles listings and citation distribution and does not pretend otherwise. There is no rank tracking, no review workflow and no client reporting, so most people end up buying a second tool alongside it. If listings accuracy is genuinely your whole problem, it is hard to beat on price.

If what you want is businesses whose problem is listing accuracy and citations, not the whole local SEO job. then Moz Local is a reasonable buy and you should go and try it.

Lite is $20, Preferred $30 and Elite $40 per location per month. Annual billing brings it to roughly $14 to $33 per location per month.

Does Moz Local do rank tracking?

No. It manages listings and citations. Measuring your map position needs a separate tool.

Is Moz Local worth it?

If listing accuracy is your specific problem, yes, and it is one of the cheapest ways to solve it. If you want the whole local SEO job handled, it is not that product.

Moz Local or BrightLocal?

Moz Local is cheaper and narrower. BrightLocal covers audits, rank tracking and reporting as well, at a higher price and with features split across tiers.

Do I still need citations?

Yes, as corroboration. What matters is that your listings agree with each other rather than how many you have.
