Trend report
# Rankings drawn as a line: rising, falling or flat.
The trend report turns your saved rank scans into a simple line per keyword and location: rising, falling or flat. Compared against the right period, it tells you which movement is real and which is just a normal week.

A line per keywordReal change vs noiseThe right comparison

## The short answer
The trend report reads your scan history and draws the direction: for each keyword at each location, whether visibility is going up, going down or staying flat. Because every scan is saved with its date and average position, the line is built from real measurements, and comparing the right periods separates true change from ordinary movement.

What it is
## Why do rankings need a trend, not a reading?
Local rankings move constantly. A position drops on Tuesday and returns on Thursday, and nothing happened at all.

Read one snapshot and every wobble looks like an event. Teams then react, change things, and change them back, which is worse than doing nothing.

A trend absorbs the wobble. Movement that lasts across scans is a change. Movement that goes back on its own was just noise, and the line shows you which is which.

Snapshots lie, lines do not

01 · The line
## Scan history, drawn as direction.
Every saved scan carries its date, keyword and average position. The trend report joins them into one line per keyword, per location.

Up, down or flat is readable in a glance, which is what a client meeting or a Monday morning actually needs.

02 · Real change vs noise
## React to the trend, not to Tuesday.
A single bad scan is usually nothing. Several scans moving the same way is something, and the line shows which one you are looking at.

That stops the most expensive habit in local SEO: changing categories on Tuesday and changing them back on Thursday.

03 · The right window
## Seasonal businesses need seasonal comparisons.
Month over month is the wrong lens for a seasonal business. A tax practice after April and a garden centre after June both fall, every year, on schedule.

Year over year compares this July with last July, so the line shows how the business is really doing against its own season.

04 · Per location
## Each branch gets its own line.
The location report shows results one location at a time, so multi location brands and franchises see which branches rank well, which need help, and how each city is moving.

Two branches can share a keyword and travel in opposite directions. Separate lines are the only way to see it.

05 · Proof over time
## The before picture, kept safe.
Because every scan is saved, the line reaches back to before your work started. Open the history and the difference between then and now is not a memory, it is a chart.

For an agency, that chart is the renewal meeting. For an owner, it is the answer to whether the last six months were worth it.

How it works
## How to set it up
- **Let the scans accumulate.** A trend needs a few weeks of history first.
- **Open the trend per keyword.** Rising, falling or flat, per location.
- **Pick the comparison window.** Year over year for anything seasonal.
- **Act only on persistent moves.** One bad scan is a wait, three are a signal.
- **Put the line in the report.** It explains itself in the client meeting.

FAQ
## Questions people ask

**Q: How long before the trend means anything?**
A few weeks of scans builds the first usable line. The longer the history runs, the more confidently it separates a wobble from a change.

**Q: Why do rankings wobble at all?**
Local results shift with the searcher, the day and small profile changes across the whole market. Movement is the normal state, which is exactly why one reading misleads.

**Q: When should I actually react to a drop?**
When it persists across several scans. A fall that lasts is a change worth investigating. A fall that reverts by the next scan was never an event.

**Q: What about seasonal businesses?**
Use year over year. A garden centre in July should be measured against last July, not against June, or the calendar reads as a crisis every year.

**Q: Can I see trends per branch?**
Yes. The location report gives each branch its own lines, because two branches can share a keyword and move in opposite directions.

**Q: How do I show a client the progress?**
The line from before the work started to now, inside your branded report. It needs almost no explaining, which is what makes it good in a meeting.
